Amazon AI App Allows Users to Create Professional Websites

Amazon Web Services (AWS) have revealed that they are going to test launch their new Amazon AI App called App Studio. This system promises to allow employees to develop apps and websites with no coding required.

The system promises to build apps with only basic tech skills. Instead of making codes, users will simply have to describe what their website looks like or what it does and what it will look like.

What Can the Amazon AI App Do?

”In just minutes, App Studio builds an application that could have taken a professional developer days to build from scratch, technical professionals without software development skills eliminating the need for operational expertise.”

-Amazon official statement

The main goal of the Amazon AI app is to give employees a way to create more complex tasks regarding software development without extensive training. This is according to veteran software developer Rob Howard.

Instead of having to create the code themselves, the users need to describe what they want the website to do and what it looks like to the AI. From there, the system will generate the code based on their specifications. This requires little coding experience and allows faster turnaround time for software development.

Can the Amazon AI App Replace Coders?

However, Howard also mentioned in Decrypt that he is skeptical of the extent of the Amazon AI App’s capabilities of fully replacing humans. With two decades of experience in software development and AI tools, he understands the requirements of what a major corporation like Amazon requires.

He believes an organization like them has too many demands and requirements for an AI system to handle its needs.

“I’m skeptical that this release is going to be able to accomplish as much as has been promised without any intervention from a software developer. We definitely will see AI-powered software creation improve over time, but it seems premature to totally remove the need for a senior engineer or software developer to be involved. Especially for business functions that are mission critical, have high traffic use, or require high levels of uptime, security, privacy, or any other type of advanced features that you would expect in enterprise-grade software.”

That being said, he understands that the App Builder has the potential to develop and improve over time. So while the system cannot currently replace humans at the moment, future upgrades might allow it to take over more tasks in the future.

“I do think that we will continue to see major improvements there. It just remains to be seen if this release from Amazon is that improvement, or if it’s just a step in that direction.”

Instead, he believes the solution to Amazon’s issues is recruiting higher-level employees. Even if they cost more to train, they have more experience and skills that allow them to handle more tasks.

“One thing we’ve definitely seen in the software development industry is that AI tools are able to do a lot of the grunt work or rote labor that a lot of senior developers would rather not do anyway, It seems like Amazon would like to get to a place where a layperson could create an entire dashboard or a visualization tool without a developer. AI coding tools have replaced junior and entry-level developers, but they haven’t really replaced those senior developer positions quite yet.”

Availability of the Amazon AI App

The Amazon AI app is only available in one region, the US State of Oregon. That means only users living in this area can access, use, and deploy their systems. This is because the system is still being tested and not yet available for widespread product consumption.

Amazon does not charge a licensing fee for App Builder per user which helps set it apart from other AI platforms and software systems. Instead, the system is currently free for Amazon AWS customers and companies.

How Do BPOs Benefit from The Amazon AI App?

Aside from Amazon users, Global IT services can also benefit from this app when it comes out for many reasons. Without having to rely on manual coding, something that will save outsourcing companies time and money.

This is because the system allows even inexperienced coders to create entire websites, reducing the amount of training and resources they need. For a BPO agency, this means having to invest fewer resources per person and instead saving them for larger projects.

Lastly, the system is great as it doesn’t require any physical coding. This process is long, labor-intensive, and prone to mistakes with less experienced coders. Cutting it out entirely saves workers the hassle and companies the money.
