OpenText CMS Adds AI Services for Its Products
OpenText CMS has announced its plans to expand its generative AI capabilities for its systems with the release of the new Cloud Editions 24.3. This latest update aims to integrate AI into the system, allowing it to access and function on different media types using AI integration across various media types within the system.
The generative AI tools are called AI Aviators and will be available for all users of OpenText’s different platforms: Core, Documentum, and Extended ECM. Additionally, technology from the recent Micro Focus acquisition has been integrated, enabling the capture of metadata and analytics for unstructured text, audio, video, and image content.
Pilot Program for OpenText CMS

At the moment, the OpenText CMS AI Aviators is still in its early days and not yet ready for the masses. Their vice president acknowledged this in a statement. Their users are still evaluating the AI’s performance and seeing what can be improved and changed.
This is part of OpenText’s cautious approach to adopting new technology. According to the founder of Deep Analysis, Alan Pelz-Sharpe, most companies are still skeptical about AI and have only adopted it in a limited capacity. The early adopters of AI are just a vocal minority and do not represent most companies.
“People in 2024 are still trying out generative AI, fiddling around and testing — the basics. And realistically, they will be in 2025 too.”

Issues and Potential of OpenText CMS

Some of the main barriers to entry for AI in OpenText CMS are in-house data issues, workflow issues, and building a business case to fund it. The one place where AI has the potential to take hold quickly is with compiling files.
They believe that using AI to gather and find important information from documents can be useful in saving time and money. In particular, they believe this is exceptionally useful among law firms during the discovery process as lawyers can summarize documents, provide accurate answers, and more. OpenText CMS already offers an e-discovery tool for electronic material in court cases. They started this in 2019 and can be integrated with AI.
“The legal industry, legal tech in general, has been a pioneer in the earlier forms of AI as well. [They] have been using machine learning for a long time.”
-John Radko, OpenText senior vice president of engineering.
Radko believes that OpenText will initially leverage generative AI for superior search and summarization capabilities compared to existing tools. It will only improve in organizing unstructured data as technology advances as well. This will be aided by the IDOL framework that they acquired from Micro Focus last year. Future applications, such as business activity monitoring combined with analytics, could enhance the prediction of customer behavior more accurately and promptly than current tools, ultimately aiding in improved customer retention.
Additionally, another release alongside the OpenText CMS is the DevOps Aviator which helps developers test apps by generating reports on their functions, and Fortify Aviators which helps data scientists fix apps and protect against hacks by looking for flaws in the system.
How BPOs can Benefit from OpenText CMS?
Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) can greatly benefit from implementing OpenText CMS in their operations. OpenText CMS’s excellent AI tools allow BPO IT companies to store, organize, and retrieve large volumes of documents. With its e-text reader, this platform can scan through most texts with ease and come back with important information. This ensures that BPO workers can get whatever information they need with the snap of their fingers.
Aside from texts, this system also works for IT checks as the different tools offered by OpenText also allow workers to look through code and search for anything that might become an issue down the line. This allows BPO services to maintain their quality while handling more clients as time goes on.
By adopting OpenText CMS, BPOs can significantly enhance their operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and provide better service to their clients, ultimately leading to greater competitive advantage and business growth.
