Generative AI Potential Across Software Development Beyond Coding

Generative artificial intelligence has so far been effective in certain areas like automation, coding, and handling other repetitive tasks. However, some experts believe that the generative AI potential extends beyond writing code.

A survey shows that experts believe AI can improve other parts of the software development lifecycle activities. Among the things they suggest is using AI for code modernization or user experience (UX) design.

Experts Want to Explore the Generative AI Potential

46% of all programmers now using AI in some capacity based on a survey conducted by the Capgemini Research Institute. AI normally helps them with mundane tasks so they can accomplish them faster and coders of all levels are satisfied with the results they give.

However, 63% of professionals admit they do this without authorization. While it does help them with work, this shows a lack of oversight and governance with AI. This leaves the organization as a whole with security and legal risks as things like hallucinated code and code leakage are serious issues.

“Generative AI has emerged as a powerful technology to assist software engineers, rapidly gaining adoption. Its impact on coding efficiency and quality is measurable and proven, yet it holds promise for other software activities. However, we must remember that the true value will emerge from a holistic software engineering approach, beyond deploying a single ‘new’ tool. This involves addressing business needs with robust and relevant design, establishing comprehensive developer workspaces and assistants, implementing quality and security gates, and setting up effective software teams. The focus should be on what genuinely generates value.”

What is the Generative AI Potential?

The Generative AI potential can’t be underestimated in the software workplace as they are now responsible for 25% of all software design. They handle testing and development for many of these projects in the next two years.

80% of software professionals say that the biggest part of the generative AI potential is automate repetitive tasks which can redefine how coders and other software experts work. Without having to worry about these tasks, they can now focus on other jobs which can rapidly increase productivity.

About 75% of professionals now think that AI can improve collaboration with less tech-savvy business teams. Even now with generative AI still in its early stages and not well adopted or scaled, there are already reported improvements to office efficiency and productivity, sometimes by as much as 18%.

How Can BPOs Benefit from This?

One of the industries that benefit most from full generative AI potential is BPO services. These AI tools can significantly increase their functionality and allow their workers to focus on higher-value tasks. This allows them to provide the best services possible.

For global It services, the data is also clear about how these systems can ensure easy communication between them and their partners, ensuring there are no misunderstandings. At the same time, they can also help by assisting experts. Not just as tools, but assistants for BPO workers as they can make suggestions and corrections in their work.

Even after a global IT service finishes its project and delivers the final product, AI tools are still useful in analyzing customer data and results to see how well the project performed. This allows clients to go back and fix their results.
