US BPO Afni Expected to Expand Their Quezon City Office

Quezon City remains the Philippines’ largest city in terms of population and one of the largest in terms of economic growth. With a strong workforce and potential for economic growth, Mayor Joy Belmonte has sought to partner with foreign investors to set up shop in the Philippines.

Among the sectors she hopes to woo is the BPO industry to ensure its continued growth within the city. One of these investors is Afni, a prominent American BPO who recently announced plans to expand their Fairview office in Quezon City. This is to meet the rising customer service demands of its clientele.

This expansion is a core element of the company’s goal of enhancing its operational capacity. The Quezon City government has partnered with the business sector to assist them in these plans and ensure the success of the BPO industry.

Expansion Plan of Afni in Quezon City

Afni has been operating in the city for a decade now, initially setting up its headquarters on Commonwealth Avenue. Their success led them to open a second office in Fairview in 2020. Their SMT4 office began operations two years later. They employ 8,000 workers, a majority of whom reside in the city.

Afni currently operates at the SM Fairview Tower 4 (SMT4), where the SMT4 site covers more than 100,000 square feet with 5 floors. This has been large enough to house 4,000 employees.

They have enjoyed considerable success while operating in Quezon City, though their current office space is inadequate to meet the needs of the growing BPO industry.

To help deal with these demands, the Quezon City government has stepped in to assist in Afni’s expansion plan. The business has begun construction of an expansion of their office space. This plan consists of an entirely new floor, which will allow them to accommodate an additional 1,000 employees.

Khalid Khursheed, Afni vice president for operations and Philippine country manager, was among the executives who expressed their thanks for the city government’s support.

“Afni is celebrating 10 years in Quezon City, and this is with much thanks to Mayor Joy Belmonte, whose support for BPOs allowed Afni to invest more in our operations in the city,”

This plan has been built with the employee’s well-being in mind. The new floor doesn’t just have office space, it is expected to have a game room and open-air facilities to allow workers to react while enjoying an engaging environment while they work.

“Solidifying and expanding the business in the Philippines is part of the company’s growth strategy as we support our clients and employees. Afni considers the Philippines, given Filipinos’ commendable work ethic, as the company’s stronghold for sustainable growth in the global BPO landscape.”

This work was completed earlier this week and the expansion was officially opened with Mayor Belmonte and several Afni executives present. Though this project might be finished, the city’s plan to expand its BPO presence is not.

Mayor Joy emphasized her goal of advocating the development and expansion of the BPO sector, as it offers numerous employment prospects for the city’s citizens.

“The city’s economy continues to grow, thanks to the close partnerships we have with local businesses. BPOs are a key player in the city’s social development strategy through employment generation for Quezon City residents.”
